Helen Wicks is a San Francisco based choreographer, performing artist, aerialist, archivist, acrobat, and educator. Helen’s training began as a competitive gymnast where she was a member of the US TOPs National Team 2001-2004. As Artistic Director of Helen Wicks Works, she creates circus-informed performance for multi-generational audiences that has been commissioned by Bay Area Discovery Museum,  Z Space, Salesforce Tower and presented at Herbst Theater, SF Arial Arts Festival, Fort Mason’s Gateway Pavillion, Cowell Theater, Triskelion Arts, SAFEhouse Arts, Circus Center, and ODC.  She has performed with Zaccho Dance Theatre, Flyaway Productions, and others. Helen performed works by Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company, and Merce Cunningham during her time earning a BA in Dance and a BA in Psychology from Bard College where she was awarded the Ana Itelman Prize for choreography. Her current practice is influenced by time with Deborah Hay, Quincy Jones, and Jesse Zaritt. She is currently the Arts Specialist at The Nueva School where she runs an integrated visual art, dance, and theater program for students Pre-K thru 4th grade.

Helen Wicks Works (HWW) combines dance and socio-political perspectives in circus-informed aerial performance. HWW presents research-driven content and ancestral stories through athletic spellbinding performance for multi-genertaional audiences.


Click Tracks Trailer

Click Tracks is a new show by Helen Wicks Works that explores the conflation of news and entertainment through examining the history of film scores and newsreels. In collaboration with rigging and lighting designer Benjy Young, aerial dancers perform on a 4-story tightwire timelines in Project Artaud's SPACE 124.
