This is for youth interested in movement and music! We will look at cartoons and investigate animation techniques as a method to develop movement. Students will practice dance composition and technique practices. We will break movement into smaller parts, and will experiment with speed and music synchronization. We will apply different music to movement studies and experiment with possibilities of tone and narrative.

Forever 3D

Creative Dance and Computer Science Classes for Children

“Forever 3D” is a hybrid dance and computer science program for children. It supports students to experience math through movement and movement through math. They will compose and perform choreography using tools from contemporary dance and Scratch — “a tool to help young people program, think creatively and reason systematically.” This process builds an embodied experience of logic, algorithmic structure and notation. Students will create games on computers and on the stage. Over the week we will build a performance guided by expansive and self-directed experience of body, world, and imagination.

Storytelling Through Movement Camp!

[Virtual or distanced in person - Available Upon Request]

This class series guides students through physical storytelling processes. Using materials found in the home as simple props, each class will start with an embodied movement warm-up followed by different games and exercises geared towards creation, composition, and direction of individual and collective stories. This part theater, part dance class is geared towards K-5th grade students.
